SPD 15- “Resistance”
“You want to turn us in to
Commander Tate?!” Bre cried.
“Traitors have to be punished
according to the SPD handbook, section 3, page 109.” Sage said.
“What? Sage, if you go to
Commander Tate you’ll get us killed!”
“He wouldn’t kill you.”
“I’m your baby sister; do you want
to take that chance?”
Sage sighed, “No, not really, but
you can’t be right.”
“Sage, use your power, you’ll see
we’re not lying.” Bre said closing her eyes.
Sage sighed then closed his eyes.
They did some sort of sibling psychic link thing they did from time to time.
When Sage opened his eyes his expression had changed, “You’re not lying.”
“Duh.” Bre said, rolling her eyes.
“Oh, if SPD is really the bad guys
then…I guess they do have to be stopped.”
“So you’re with us?” Sammi asked.
Sage nodded, “Yes. I’m with you.”
Bre jumped into Sage’s arms and hugged him, “Thank god.”
“I know you don’t like this Sage,
neither do we…but this is how it is.” Sammi said.
“I know. So what do we do?” Sage
asked.
“Go tell Jeremy we’re all in.”
We went to Jeremy’s room and
knocked.
“Enter.” He said.
We went in the room.
“Hey, good news babe, we’re with
you.” Sammi said smiling at him.
“What? All of you?” Jeremy asked.
Sammi hugged him, “Yes.”
“I can’t believe you two are
together.” Bre said.
Jeremy looked at Sammi, “You told them?”
“Of course, they’re my family. I
mean…we are together, right?”
He nodded, “Yes, we are.”
“You realize Aunt Harley is going
to have a heart attack, right?” Sage asked.
Sammi sighed, “I’ll deal with my mother later. We have bigger
things to worry about right now.”
“She’s right. Come on, we need to
let my dad know that you’re with us.” Jeremy said.
We went to Commander Jax office and went in.
“Good news Dad, the cousins are
with us.” Jeremy said.
“That is good news. I’m glad to
have all of you on board. With your experience you will be a valuable asset.
What about the rest of your team? Do you think they would join us?” Commander Jax asked.
“Dallas and Angie wouldn’t. No
chance. Ava…probably not.” Sammi
said.
“That’s ok. I’m glad to have you
four on board.”
“So what do we do first?” Bre asked.
“We capture Mirloc
as planned. He is, admittedly, a bigger threat than SPD at the moment. Once we
get rid of Mirloc we’ll proceed.” Commander Jax explained.
“So for now we continue as we
always have?” Sage asked.
“Yes…but keep the resistance
quiet. If word gets out then we’re all dead.”
I nodded, “Mum’s the word.”
“I thought bird was the word.” Bre said.
I sighed, “Seriously? God Bre…different saying.”
“So, we go about things like
normal then.” Sammi said.
“Yes, but keep your eyes and ears
open. I’ll keep you up to date on both missions.” Commander Jax
said.
“Yes sir.”
“Ok, dismissed.”
Bridget
~~~~~~
After Commander Jax dismissed us I decided to head outside. I needed to
clear my head. So much was happening so quickly. Everything had changed. I was
a double agent. How did I go from being a RHS cheerleader to being part of the
SPD resistance?
I turned the corner to go into the
garden area when I nearly ran into
“Oh geez,
I’m sorry Dal.” I said.
“It’s ok Bre.
Are you ok? You look spacey…like more than normal.” He replied.
“I’m fine, thank you for asking.”
I replied.
“Ok, well, if you’re not busy you wanna go for a walk?”
“Um, ok.” I said as I took off
with him.
“I just wanted you to know…about
what happened back home…”
“You mean the kiss?”
“Yeah, the kiss…we never really
had a chance to figure out what that was before we came here.”
“Yeah…I know. We’ve kinda been dealing with other things.”
“I know, but I don’t want to leave
it hanging.”
“What are you trying to say Dal?”
“That I like you Bridget. I don’t
know when it happened, but I like you.”
“You do? But you’ve always been
like my brother…and…I…”
“I know. We grew up together. I
don’t know how, but I do know I have feelings for you that I never had before. Bre, I love you.”
I froze and looked at him, “You
what?”
“I love you. We’ve known each
other forever and I guess I’ve always known, but didn’t know…if that makes
sense.”
I sighed, “It does…and…well…I love
you too.”
“You do?”
“Yeah, I always have Dal…but is the time right? I mean,
we’re so far from home on a dangerous mission.”
“I know. I don’t really care about
timing. What does it matter anyway, we belong together and you know it.” He
said as he pulled me in and kissed me. It was the most amazing kiss ever.
Somehow Dallas and I had fallen in love…but I was about to completely turn on
SPD and inadvertently, Dal. I couldn’t get involved with
him now.
I pulled away from the kiss, “I’m
sorry, I can’t…I…I gotta go.”
I ran back into the Academy and up
to my room. I fell onto my bed and cried. I didn’t know what I would do now.
Sammi
~~~~~~
After Commander Jax dismissed us he asked that Jeremy and I stay behind.
“Yes sir?” Jeremy asked.
“Son, I am not blind. I see what
is happening here. Are you and Cadet McKnight involved beyond the mission?”
Commander Jax asked.
Jeremy paused and thought for a
second, then answered, “Yes sir, we are.”
“Jeremy, she is only 16.”
“I know that.”
“Cadet McKn…Samantha,
no disrespect intended, but are you sure it is wise for you to date someone so
much older than you?”
“Are you speaking as my Commander
or Jeremy’s father?” I asked.
“At the moment? Jeremy’s father.”
I nodded, “Sir, I know Jeremy and
I have a substantial age different, however that doesn’t matter to us. When I
met Jeremy I knew there was something between us and I want to explore it to
see what it can become. I care about him very much.”
“And how do you think your parents
will react?”
“Um…well…I don’t suspect they’ll
be happy at first but I hope they will eventually see how happy Jeremy makes me
and accept it.”
“And Jeremy, you care about
Samantha?”
Jeremy nodded, “I do. I know it’s
abnormal for me to jump into something so quickly like this but there is
something that draws me to Sammi. I really do care
about her very much.”
Commander Jax
nodded, “OK, just be very careful. This has the potential to go bad very
quickly.”
“Yes sir.”
“That’s all.”
Jeremy nodded and took my hand. We
left the office and went off to be alone. We ended up sitting in an unused
training room.
“Your father doesn’t seem happy
with us.” I said.
Jeremy laughed, “He isn’t…but did
you expect him to be?”
“No, I suppose not.”
“If we’re going to be together we
have to get used to this. It is going to get worse before it gets better.”
I nodded, “I know. I’m aware of
what we’re facing and I’m ok with it, really.”
“Good.” He said as he leaned in
and kissed me. We started making out. It was getting intense so I pulled away
just a bit. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’ve just never…you know…”
“Ohh…listen
Sammi, I wasn’t going there. We’re never going to do
anything you’re not ready for, I promise you that. Until you give me the green
light I won’t even try that.”
I smiled, “Thank you.”
Jeremy laughed, “Sammi, did you forget, I’m the one that fought this? I’m
still not sure this is a good idea…I just know I can’t ignore how I feel for
you.”
“I know…this is going to get very
complicated, I know. It won’t be easy and it may even get really difficult, but
we can make it. I have a feeling in my gut…this is right.” I said as I kissed
him again.
“You’re right. I don’t know how we
know, but this is right.”
I nodded, “It has to be. I’ve
never felt this way about anyone before.”
“Neither have I.”
