PRT 364- “Pushing the Limit”
I woke up and looked to my side. I
closed my eyes in disgust at myself. There were some things I just couldn’t do.
This was apparently one of them.
Ronny was out of town at a race and
Hunter had taken advantage of this situation. He’d come over last night and
ended up spending the night. I loved being with him and waking up next to him,
but I had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I knew what it was and I
didn’t like it at all.
I couldn’t lay here and let my
mind wander this way. It would drive me nuts. I stood up and got dressed then I
went in the bathroom and grabbed a toilet brush and started scrubbing. Yes,
cleaning the toilet was actually preferable to thinking.
I was just finishing cleaning it
when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind.
“What are you doing?” Hunter asked
as he kissed my neck.
I pulled away, “Cleaning.”
“What’s wrong?”
I put the brush away, “Nothing.” I
said as I headed to the kitchen to load the dishwasher.
“Bull. I know you better than that
I sighed, “I can’t do this.”
“What?”
“This. Us.
I can’t.”
“Why?”
“Ronny.”
“So? It’s not like you haven’t had
affairs with other men before.”
“Don’t you think I know that? This
is different.”
“Oh really? How is this different?”
“It just is.”
“What the hell
“What?! Did you seriously just ask that?”
“Well what am I suppose to think?
You’ll screw around with Jon and God only knows who else, but with me you
‘can’t do this’…you do the math.”
“Oh my god, you
idiot. Have you stopped to think that I
can’t do this with you BECAUSE I love you so much?”
“What? That makes no sense.”
“Hunter, I can’t share you! I
can’t do it! You’re not leaving Ronny and I can’t share you. It kills me that
you’re with her. In my mind we belong together. You’re mine and you always will
be, except you’re not and I can’t handle that.”
Hunter just looked at me, “You
really feel that way?”
“Yes!”
“You know I love you too. Always
have.”
“I know, but you’re not leaving
Ronny.”
“I can’t. She’s a great
girlfriend. I can’t hurt her.”
“Then you shouldn’t be cheating on
her. I’m sorry Hunter. I can’t do this with you. It’s over. I think you should
go.”
Hunter sighed, “Fine.”
He got his things and headed for
the door.
“You know I’ll always love you.”
He said.
I nodded, “I know, but until you
can be mine this just isn’t going to work.”
He nodded, “Goodbye.”
“Goodbye.”
He left and I sat on the sofa and
cried. I did love Hunter but I just had a feeling it wasn’t in the cards for
us.
My tears had to stop pretty
quickly though. A few minutes later I got a call from Amara. Mistress 9 was
seen in town and was apparently draining civilians of their energy. It was
super heroine time.
“Saturn Spirit
Power!”
I met up with the other Outers.
Mars and Jupiter were there as well.
“OK, I’m really not in the mood
for this Hotaru, so cut it out.” I said.
“I really don’t care.” Hotaru said
as she blasted me, knocking me back.
“Saturn! Are you ok?”
“I’m fine.” I said as I stood up,
“Fine, if that’s the way you want it, let’s finish this. Saturn Lightning
Rings, Electrify!”
My attack was blocked by a black
blast.
“Oh just
perfect.” Uranus said as Nemesis
appeared.
“Looked like you
needed some help Mistress 9.” Nemesis
said.
“About time you showed up.” Hotaru
growled.
“Relax. I got this. So, Sailors,
you know how this ends. Do you really want to play this?” Nemesis asked.
“Yeah, it ends with you getting out
of here. Jupiter Thunder, Crash!” Jupiter called.
Nemesis dodged, “Nice try.”
“You’re outnumbered Nemesis, give
it up!” Mars called.
“Outnumbered, but not out
matched.”
“I’d rethink that. Venus, Love and Beauty Shock!” Venus said as she arrived.
I rolled my eyes, “Just perfect. As if this day wasn’t bad enough.”
“Well maybe if you could handle
yourself on the battlefield I wouldn’t have to show up and save you.” Venus
said.
“Save me? Excuse me?”
“Well I’m not the one that got
blasted.”
“Oh you’re about to be.”
“Bring it on.”
“You really wanna do this again?”
“I’m really tired of you thinking
you’re all powerful.”
I rolled my eyes again, “No, just
more powerful than you.”
“Oh that’s it.”
“Guys, stop, this isn’t the time!”
Mars cried.
“Seriously, Saturn, stop.”
“No, she brought this on herself.”
I said.
“Whatever, you started this, but I
will finish it.
“Saturn Ice
Our attacks hit each other and
cancelled each other out.”
“Fine, forget the power. I can
take you out hand to hand.” I said as I jump kicked Venus. She tried to block.
We started to fight. She wasn’t bad, but I’d had much more hand to hand
training than she had. Powered attacks she could match me move for move, but
hand to hand I had the advantage. The other Sailors knew it was pointless to
stop us at this point so they stood back and helplessly watched. Mina was a
formidable opponent to be sure, she even got a really good strike in on my
knee, but when all was said and done, I beat her up badly. I felt I’d proven my
point.
“Enough! She’s not getting up!”
Mars cried.
I stopped, “OK, I think we all
know who the winner is here. Now then…” I noticed Nemesis and Hotaru had gotten
away again, “Damn it! Next time…” I said as I took off.
I got home and rested for awhile
before I started to get dressed. I was going out tonight. Once I was ready I
headed to Sunset and went into a club. The music was blaring and it was
awesome. I went in, got a drink from the bar, and went straight to the dance
floor. I was having a blast. I loved just getting lost in the music and moving
to the beat.
I danced for awhile then decided
to take a break and get another drink. I got my drink and started looking for a
place to sit when I heard my name.
“MICHI!”
I turned and saw Jon. I walked
over and sat with him, “Hey you. What are you doing here all alone?”
“I needed to get out of the
house.”
“I’m glad to see you.”
“Really?”
I smiled as I moved over and sat
on his lap, “Yeah, really.”
“I’m always glad to see you.” He
replied.
“I bet you are.” I said as I
kissed him. He returned the kiss and soon we’d started making out. This kept up
until I heard another voice.
“Get a room!” Mia cried as she sat
at the table with us.
I looked up and laughed, “Hey!”
“You two look like you’re having
fun.” She said.
“Oh, we are. Have you two met?”
“Not formally.”
I nodded, “Jon, this is my friend
Mia Blackwood. Mia, this is Jon Giovanni.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” Jon said.
“Oh, the pleasure is all mine. I’m a huge fan. Without your band I don’t think I
would have gotten into music.” Mia said.
“Thanks, that’s quite a
complement.”
“Jon’s inspirational. Inspires me all the time.” I said as I kissed him again.
“I bet he does.” Mia said
laughing, “Come on, I wanna hit the dance floor.”
“OK. Jonny, come dance with me.” I
said.
Jon smiled, “OK.”
We all went to the dance floor and
danced to the music. Jon and I danced close. It was amazing.
By the end of the night I was
drunk, but not to the point of blacking out this time, thankfully. I actually
remembered going home with Jon this time and what we did when we got
there…which was great. Everything was great.
Until the next
morning.
I woke up in so much pain. My knee
was absolutely killing me. I grunted in pain, which woke Jon up.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“My knee.” I said.
“What’s wrong with it?”
“I think I twisted it.”
“How did you do that?”
“
“Nemesis again?”
I shook my head, “No. Venus.”
“Venus? Mina? She did this?”
“Yeah.”
“Man, I had no idea the rift
between you two was THAT bad.”
“It is…but I got the least of it.
I bet she feels like crap today. I totally took her out.”
Jon shook his head, “We should get
you to a doctor.”
“No, I’m…” I tried to stand up but
I fell back on the bed in pain, “OK, I’m not fine.”
Jon stood up and got dressed then
helped me get dressed, “Come on. I’ll take you.” He said as he picked me up and
carried me to the car.
We went to
“Well, it’s not too bad. It looks
like you did just twist it. It’ll be sore for awhile, but you should be fine.”
“Can you give me something to help
with the pain?” I asked.
“Yeah, of course. I’m going to prescribe some Vicodin, but be careful. It
can be habit forming. Also, you need to avoid alcohol when you take it…it’s
also better if you don’t drive while you’re on it as it can cause drowsiness.”
“OK.” I said.
“I’m serious
“I got it, I got it.” I said.
“If you and Mina could discuss this like civilized women you wouldn’t have this problem.”
“I didn’t come here for a
lecture.”
“I’m just saying…this Sailor War
is ridiculous.”
“If Mina would back off so would
I. Speaking of which, will I be able to manage a battle?”
“I wouldn’t recommend it. I mean,
when you transform it should take away the pain for a little while and give you
a power boost to fight…but you could also hurt yourself more. I’d stay out of
battle until your knee heals up some, unless it’s an emergency.”
I nodded, “OK.”
“Any other
questions?”
“No, I think I’m good. Thanks.”
After we left Jon took me to fill
my prescription then we went back to my apartment. I took a pill and Jon helped
me get settled on the sofa.
“You ok?” he asked as he covered
me with a blanket.
I nodded, “I’ll be fine.”
“Guess you’re staying in tonight.”
“Why?”
“Your knee.”
“I can still dance. I won’t fill a
thing as long as I’m on Vicodin.”
“You can’t drink.”
“Eh, what’s the worst that will
happen?”
“You sure?”
“Of course I’m sure. I’ll be fine.
I just need to rest today and we’ll hit Sunset tonight.”
“OK, I need to get home for a bit.
I’ll meet you tonight, but call me if you need anything.”
I nodded, “Thanks.”
I closed my eyes and dozed off.
Nothing was keeping me from Sunset…nothing.
