PRT 391- “Back to the Future”

“Why didn’t you call for back up?” Lita asked.

“Because I didn’t have time. It all happened so fast.” Raye replied.

“This is getting out of hand. We have to do something, fast.” Mina said.

“Any ideas?”

“No.”

“What about you Serena? You’ve been awfully quiet.” Lita said.

I sighed, “I know. I guess I’m just at a loss.”

“I think we should call the Outers to this meeting. It’s clear that it’s going to take all of us to defeat Nemesis.” Amy said.

“I agree.” I said.

“I’m not sure Michelle will be much help. She’s kind of a mess right now.” Mina said.

“Well she has to pull it together. We need her too.” Raye said.

I nodded, “We need all of us.”

“I’ll call Michelle. Lita, call Amara and get the rest of the Outers over here.” Mina said.

Lita nodded.

In truth I was extremely concerned. Mia could have killed Raye in the last battle…easily. She didn’t because she was toying with us. It was the only reason Raye was still alive and that worried me. The fact Mia was confident enough to treat this as a game was not a good thing. On top of that we still needed to get Rini back so that we could send her and Harley back to the future.

I knew the Sailors were having a meeting about Rini and Mia and I also know I probably should be there, but I needed to get away. Being in the past and consistently worrying about changing the future was exhausting and stressful. I went downtown and found a deli to get some lunch. When I walked in I saw Hunter looking all broody over a sandwich. It was instantly clear where I got my capacity to brood from. As much as I looked like my mom, I was definitely my father’s daughter.

I walked over to Hunter’s table and sat down across from him.

“What’s got you brooding today?” I asked.

“Your mother.” He mumbled.

“Imagine that.”

“I know she blames me for her losing Aubrey but I wish she’d see we belong together.”

“I know you love Mo…Michelle…but do you really think pushing her will get you anywhere. You know how she is. She’s as stubborn as you are.”

“I know that, but…”

“I know. You want her back. I get it.”

Hunter looked at me for a bit, like he was analyzing me.

“What?” I finally asked.

“You look kind of like me. You have my eyes and you have some of my facial features. I’m your father aren’t I?” Hunter asked.

“Hunter, even if you were, you know I can’t tell you that.”

“So I’m not?”

“I can’t tell you that either. All I can say is that it’s possible. But it’s possible it’s Rocky or Ryan or any other number of men Mom has been with or will be with.” I said.

“If I am your father that means I will get Mich back eventually…”

“Yes, IF you were my father that’s what it would mean…but you know I can’t tell you that.”

“OK, I know you can’t tell me the future. Can you at least give me some advice?”

“Yeah, totally. I know my mother…I’m just like her in some ways. You have got to stop pushing her if you ever want a shot at getting her back. She knows you love her, now let her come to you. If it’s meant to happen then it will. If not, then it won’t. If you push her you’ll only push her away.”

Hunter nodded, “I guess that makes sense.”

“Of course it does.”

Hunter laughed, “You are like your mother.”

“Hunter, I will tell you this…everything does work out the way it is meant to. I can’t tell you what that means, but trust me, it does work out.”

“Thanks Harley.”

“Anytime. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to order my lunch.” I said as I stood up and headed to the counter. I felt so bad for Hunter, but I knew his life would be ok. In my future he and my Mom were very happily married (when they weren’t threatening divorce…but no one’s perfect).

“Thanks for coming so quickly.” I said as Amara, Michele, and Trista came in. We were all gathered in Mina’s living room.

“Where’s Michelle?” Michele asked.

“She should be on her way…I hope.” Mina said.

“I’m here, chill out.” Michelle said as she walked in.

“Are you up for this?” Amy asked.

“Of course I am! My god, you guys are acting like I’m broken!”

“Michelle, you overdosed on Vicodin and nearly killed yourself!” Raye cried.

“It was a slip up. Won’t happen again. Now, can we please focus on more important things? Like, you know, taking down Nemesis…”

I nodded, “She’s right. That has to be our focus right now.”

“So what do we do? How do we get Rini back?” Lita asked.

“It won’t be easy…you guy have got to keep Mia and Hotaru off me long enough for me to use the Crystal to heal her.” I said.

“She’ll just fight back with her own Crystal. You need the Amethyst too.” Michelle said.

I nodded, “Not a bad idea.”

“OK, so how do we keep Mia and Hotaru off you guys? You’re both Mia’s primary targets.” Amara said.

“That’s easy. We use Kaya as bait.” Mina said.

“How do we use Kaya as bait?” Artemis asked as he walked in and jumped on Mina’s shoulder.

“We take Kaya into battle with us, caged of course, and dangle her right in front of Mia. She’ll be so focused on Kaya she’ll forget about Serena and Michelle. Lita, Amy, and I will focus on Mia and keeping Kaya away from her. Amara, Michele, and Trista, you guys work on keeping Hotaru busy. In the meantime this will free up Michelle, Serena, and Harley to take on Rini.”

“How did Harley get pulled into this?” Michelle asked.

“Two Amethysts are better than one.”

“You forgot to include me in your plan.” Raye said.

“No I didn’t. You’re injured. You’re staying here.” Mina said.

“No way. I’m going.”

“No, you’re not. You’re staying. And to make sure of it…ADAM!” Mina cried.

“Yeah?” Adam asked as he came downstairs.

“Watch Raye please. Make sure she doesn’t try to follow us into battle. She’s injured.” I said.

“I’m fine!” Raye cried.

“No, you’re not. You hurt your leg pretty badly.” Amy said.

“See, doctor’s orders. Stay.” Mina commanded.

Raye made a face.

“I’ll call Harley and have her meet us. Are you guys ready?” Mina asked.

We all nodded.

“Ok, Lita, go upstairs and grab Kaya’s cage and we’ll head out.”

We all Transformed and went to the quarry. Best to fight outside of the city whenever possible.

“HEY!!! Mia! Got something for you! I know you can hear me! I’ve got Kaya here! Come and get her!!!” Venus cried.

In a flash Nemesis appeared with Rini and Hotaru.

“Give me Kaya!” Nemesis shrieked.

“Come and get her.” Venus coaxed as she dangled the cage. Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury started backing up to pull Nemesis away from the group.

“Hey, Hotaru, time to come home.” Uranus said.

“I am home.” Hotaru replied.

“Not quite. World Shaking!” Uranus cried as she knocked Hotaru back. This made Hotaru mad. The Outers used this to pull Hotaru to the other side of the quarry.

“Looks like it’s just us princesses.” Neo Saturn said.

“You don’t know what you’re up against.” Rini said as she pulled out her Crystal.

“No darling, you don’t know what you’re up against.” I countered.

Neo Saturn, Saturn, and I fought against Rini using hand to hand combat, magical attacks, and about everything else we could think of. We had to weaken her enough to heal her. It was clear she was finally starting to tire.

“Ready to give up yet?” Neo Saturn asked.

“Not a chance.” Rini said as she held up her Crystal and prepared to use it.

“I think that’s our cue.” Saturn said.

“With ya Momma.” Neo Saturn said.

I nodded in agreement.

I pulled out my Crystal and the Saturns pulled out their Amethysts.

“Moon Healing Escalation!” I cried.

“Amethyst Healing Power!” the Saturns cried.

“I don’t think so!” Rini cried as she activated her Crystal to attack us. One Crystal was no match for 2 Amethysts and a Crystal. It wasn’t a breeze but we finally got the energy from our Gemstones to surround Rini. She cried out as the good energy conflicted with the evil she was possessed by, cleansing her. Once it was over she fell to the ground.

“Rini!” Neo Saturn and I both cried as we ran to her side.

“Rini are you ok?” I asked as I knelt next to her and pulled her into my arms.

“Mom? What did I….oh my god…I’m so sorry.” Rini said.

“It’s ok sweetie…are you ok?”

“I am now. Thank you.”

“It’s ok sweetheart.”

“Um, guys, we should probably go help the others.” Saturn said.

“Oh, right.” I said.

“Let me help.” Rini said as she pulled herself up.

“Are you sure you’re up for it?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Neo Moon Power!” Rini called as she transformed into Sailor Neo Moon. “OK, let’s do this.”

“Good to have you back.” Neo Saturn said as we took off toward the Inners. We had to keep Kaya away from Nemesis.

We found the others and they were tossing Kaya’s cage back and forth while Nemesis was trying to blast them and the ones not holding Kaya blasted back.

“Hey, mission accomplished.” I called.

“What??? Oh no! Sailor Neo Moon! No! I’ve been tricked!” Nemesis cried.

“That’s right Nemesis, I’m back…and you’re toast! Neo Moon Scepter Eradication!” Neo Moon cried, attacking.

“Neo Saturn Electric Hallucination!” Neo Saturn called.

Nemesis was hit with the attack, but managed to block enough that she was just knocked to the ground, hard, which cause her to de-transform.

“No…this is far from over…I will get Kaya back and I will destroy you ALL!” Mia cried as she vanished.

“Nice work you two.” I told the Neo Soldiers.

“Thanks.” Neo Moon said.

“Everything ok?” Neptune asked as the Outers ran over.

“Just fine now.” I said.

“Hotaru escape?” Saturn asked.

“Yeah, this time.” Uranus said.

“It’s ok. We got Rini back and now we can set the timeline right.” I said.

“Yes, and we need to do that sooner rather than later.” Pluto said.

“I know I have to go back, but can I at least see my dad first?” Neo Moon asked.

“I don’t see what that would hurt. Sure.”

Harley

I was so happy that Rini was safe and I could finally go home to my husband and daughter. Josh had to be certifiably insane by now. First I wanted to tell Hunter goodbye.

I went to his apartment and knocked. He opened the door.

“Hey Harley.” He said.

“Hey. I just came to say goodbye. We got Rini back so I can finally go home.”

“That’s great!”

“Yeah, totally. I miss my family.”

“Well, it’s been nice talking to you the last several weeks. You’re a great person. Whoever your father is, he did a great job.”

I nodded, “Thanks. And really, everything does work out. I promise.”

“Thank you Harley. I mean that.”

“Take care Hunter…and I’ll see you in the future.” I said as I hugged him.

“Good luck Harley.” He said hugging me back.

I left his apartment and headed back to Mina’s. It was weird. As excited as I was to go home, I was kinda sad too. I would miss past Hunter. He was a good man…but I knew that he would have a good life and that made me feel better.

I took Rini back to Mina’s apartment. I knew that Adam would have called Darien for back up by now. Raye was not a good patient.

“It’s about time!” Raye cried as we all walked in.

“Have fun?” Lita teased.

Raye glared.

Mina laughed, “I’m taking Kaya upstairs. Make yourselves at home.”

“Enjoy victory now. This will not last.” Kaya said.

“Oh hush you.” Mina said as she carried Kaya’s cage up the stairs.

“Rini, you’re ok!” Darien said.

“Dad! Oh wow...yeah, I’m fine.” Rini said as she hugged him.

“We were very worried.”

“I know. I’m so sorry for everything I did.”

“It wasn’t you sweetheart, it was Black Lady.”

“Hey, did I miss anything?” Harley asked as she walked in.

“Harley!” Rini cried as she ran to Harley and hugged her.

“It’s so good to have you back Rin.”

“It’ll be so good to be home. Kimber is probably going crazy.”

“SHHH!” Harley cried.

“Oh, right, future info. Sorry.”

“You girls ready to go?” Trista asked.

“More than ready.” Harley said.

“Harley…I’m glad I got to meet you…and whoever your father is…I’m proud of the woman you are. You’re so much better than I could ever be and that’s all a mother could ask for.” Michelle said as she hugged Harley.

“Thank you…I love you Mom.”

“And Rini, you’re a beautiful young woman. I’m proud of you too.” I said.

“We both are.” Darien added.

“Thanks guys.” Rini said.

“Come on girls, time to go.” Trista said as she opened a time portal.

“Bye!” both girls called as they stepped into the portal and then were gone.

“Wow, what a trip!” Lita cried.

“I know, but I’m gonna miss them.” I said.

“Yeah, me too.” Michelle agreed.

“At least that’s one less thing to worry about…now if we can get Hotaru back and put Mia out of commission we’ll be in business.” Amara said.

“Yeah, and we will get Hotaru back…that’s our next order of business.” I said firmly. It was time to kick it into action and put a stop toe Nemesis and her evil plans before anyone else got hurt.
