PRT 397- “Fall Out”
I ran into my apartment.
“Raye? What’s wrong? You’re pale as
a ghost.”
I couldn’t hold it back anymore. I’d been strong and taken a firm stance for the team, but I couldn’t act like this was no big deal anymore. I started sobbing.
“Raye? Baby, what happened?”
“We didn’t think she’d do it. We didn’t mean for it to happen.” I sobbed.
“What Raye, what happened?”
“She killed her.”
“Whoa, what? OK, sweetie, come
here.”
I nodded and tried to take a breath, “OK…Nemesis kidnapped Michelle’s sister Mindy and said she’d kill her if we didn’t return her cat and mentor, Kaya. Having Kaya is an advantage we couldn’t lose so we went in to try to save Mindy without giving up Kaya. Nemesis was ready for us and…she killed Mindy.”
“Oh my god…is Michelle ok?”
“No. She’s furious. She wanted to surrender Kaya and she blames us for Mindy’s death. She’s turned on us I think.”
“Wow…I am so sorry.”
“This wasn’t supposed to happen. We didn’t want anyone to die.”
“I know sweetie.” He said as he pulled me into his arms again, “I don’t know what to say. Is there anything I can do?”
“No, just hold me.”
“That I can do.”
I sat in his arms and cried for the longest time.

Rocky sat with me at my apartment until Dr. Anderson called to ‘inform’ us about Mindy’s death. Rocky drove me to the hospital. Zack and Tommy met us there.
“Michi…” Zack said as he pulled me into his arms.
“I am so sorry. I tried to save her.” I whispered.
Zack nodded, “I know you did.”
“Has anyone called her mom and Nathan?” Tommy asked.
“Yeah, Dr. Anderson did.”
“Dr. Anderson is one of the reasons she’s dead.” I said pulling away from Zack.
Zack led us to one of the private sitting rooms set aside for mourning families and closed the door. “What exactly happened anyway?”
“Mia kidnapped Mindy and was only willing to release her in exchange for Kaya. I agreed but the others refused to release Kaya so Mia killed Mindy.” I explained.
“It’s not their fault
“We’ll never know now! They didn’t even try!”
“They went in and tried to rescue her.”
“They failed and now Mindy is dead!”
“They did what they could.”
“No, they could have released Kaya. She’s not doing us any good anyway and having her is just making Mia more dangerous!” I said as Dr. Anderson walked in.
“Is there anything I can get for you?” she asked.
I jumped towards her to attack but Tommy caught me and pulled him back, “This is your fault!” I cried.
“Michelle, I am really sorry about your sister, I am…but Mia did this, not us. We tried to save her.”
“You could have let Kaya go!”
“No, we couldn’t. Michelle, if this had been anyone other than your family you wouldn’t have even thought about releasing Kaya.”
“Yeah, well next time it won’t be. Mia said she’s going
after people you care about too. Wait until it’s Adam

“I really am sorry Michelle.”
“Save it Amy. I want nothing to do with any of you.”
A few minutes after she left Nathan came in with a woman I assumed was Ms. Kyle.
“What happened?” Nathan asked.
I looked at Tommy.
“We still don’t really know yet. She was over at a friend’s apartment and there was an explosion. We don’t know anymore than that yet.” Tommy said.
“I can’t believe she’s gone.” Ms. Kyle said through her tears.
“I am really, really sorry Ms. Kyle.” I said.
“You’re Michelle?”
I nodded.
“She liked you a lot. She told me she was looking forward to getting to know you more.”
“She was a really amazing person. She had spent a lot of time with my wife and I recently and we loved having her over.” Zack said.
“She enjoyed it too. She said she loved having a brother.” Nathan replied.
“I would have liked to have known her better.” Tommy said.

“We all loved Mindy no matter how well we knew her. She was an amazing woman.” Zack said.
“Yes, she was.” Nathan said.
“I can’t believe my little girl is gone.” Ms. Kyle said.
“I will find out why this happened and whoever is responsible will pay. I promise you that.” I said.
Raye

“Are you ok?”
“Not really. Mia said she’s going after people we care about
too.
“I promise.”
“I’m serious. You’re a target. Mia won’t stop until she has Kaya.”
“You be careful too. If Michelle is going rogue that puts all of you in danger.”
I nodded, “I know. I’ve considered that. The only one of us that can really rival her power is Serena.”
“Michelle has to realize you didn’t want this to happen.”
“She doesn’t really care. The fact is, it did happen.”
“Then I think you need a plan of action. You guys have to be ready for whatever she decides to do.”
“My first plan of action is to kill Mia.”
“Raye, don’t go after Mia alone…promise me you won’t.”
“But…”
“Raye, she will kill you.”
I sighed, “Fine, fine. I won’t go after Mia alone.”
“Let’s turn on the TV and try to think about something else for a while.”
I nodded.
“…at the scene. Behind
me is the apartment building that rising star Mia Blackwood lives in. Earlier
today there was an explosion here that claimed the life of Mindy Kyle, little
sister of country star Michelle Morris. Authorities have yet to release a cause
for the explosion and Mia Blackwood has yet to be found. It is unknown if she
was in the apartment when the explosion happened or if she is somehow connected
to it. We will continue to bring you the latest on this breaking news story as
it develops. This is Leslie Carlson for KTLA News.”
“Just what we needed…press coverage.” I sighed as I turned the TV off.
“So Mia is missing?”
I nodded, “She vanished after the explosion. We don’t even know where she went.”
“She’s wanted by the police for questioning now. She’s probably hiding.”
“I know one thing, I’m so glad my album got pushed back. I can’t even think of dealing with the press right now. I have no idea what I’d say.”
“No one knows you’re connected to this. You offer condolences for Mindy’s family and Michelle but you say nothing else. You act like you know nothing.”
“How do I just pretend I know nothing when I watched Mindy die?”
“You have to otherwise it will bring up a lot of questions I know you don’t want to answer.”
I nodded, “You’re right. Thank you. I’m sorry I didn’t share this part of my life with you sooner.”
“I am starting to understand why you didn’t…but I’m glad you finally did.” He said as he kissed me.

Rocky finally convinced me there was nothing else we could do at the hospital. Tommy asked if he could stay at my apartment while he was in town. I told him he could and Rocky and Tommy guided me out of the hospital. When we got outside the place was crawling with vultures. They were taking pictures and shouting questions and grabbing at me.
“Back off!” Rocky yelled as he tried to shield me.
“Leave her alone!” Tommy echoed.
I felt a hand grab my shirt and start pulling. I was getting more and more agitated at this continued. I finally stopped in my tracks and screamed. When I did lightning started flashing in the sky and rain started to come down. I noticed my fingertips glowing purple too. The guys blocked the view of my hands from the press. Rocky looked at me.
“Close your eyes, they are glowing purple too.” He whispered in my ear. I did as the guys said and they got me to the car as quickly as they could.
Once in the car Rocky drove off.
“What was that?” he asked.
“The Amethyst. It was reacting to her high emotional state.” Tommy replied, “And Mich, if you don’t watch it you’re going to cause another explosion.”
“If the other Soldiers are around I’m ok with that.” I said.
“You don’t mean that.”
“Oh, I certainly do.”
“You can’t team up with Nemesis…she did this.”
“Who said anything about teaming up with Nemesis? I know she did this. I’m taking her out too.”
“You seriously think you can take out all the Soldiers alone?”
“No. Not Moon. Not easily anyway…but I can easily take out all the others.”
“Michelle, the only way to do that is with the Amethyst and using that much power would easily kill you.” Rocky said.
“I’m ok with that.” I replied.
“You don’t mean that.”
“Will you two stop telling me what I mean?!” I cried as more lightning filled the sky.
“Ok, you have to calm down before you destroy the world.” Tommy said.
“She doesn’t have that kind of power, does she?” Rocky asked.
“I’m not sure…and I really don’t want to find out.”
“Relax, I’m not going to destroy the world.” I said.
“Maybe not on purpose, but if you don’t get your emotions in check and stop radiating power you may cause some accidental destruction.”
“Michelle, I know you’re hurting, but this isn’t good…you almost outed yourself to the press back there.” Rocky said.
“I don’t really care right now.” I said.
“You will when you calm down. You have to be careful
“I’ll be fine, just as soon as the Soldiers pay for what they did.”
“Michelle, they are your team. You can’t turn on them.”
“Really? I can’t? Watch me. Seriously. Watch me.”
Raye

I noticed purple lightning streaking across the sky outside.
“Oh no…” I said.
“What is it?”
I pointed.
“Purple lightning? That’s…odd. But it happens around here sometimes.”
“It’s not natural
“Who?”
“Michelle. And it’s usually when she’s extremely emotional. It’s never a good thing. If she is radiating power like this and she wants to direct it at us…we are in really big trouble.”
“So you have to worry about Nemesis and Saturn now?”
I nodded, “Yes. Because Saturn is just as lethal, if not more so, than Nemesis.”
“You really think Saturn could kill you?”
“Yes, with her Amethyst she has more than enough power…and if that lightning is any indication then she’s probably not afraid to die in the process.”
“What are you going to do?”
“I don’t know
